Our present Church building, designed by the Reverend E. Sugden, was opened in
1888 and cost £1300. It was originally intended that the Church would be extended to
seat 700 but hoped for funds never materialized.
The Church is home to a number of ecclesiastical antiques including an angel font, a marble altar and a wooden 18th century Flemish pulpit.
The organ, built by Wood Wordsworth of Leeds, was presented to St. Mary’s Sisterhood in King street in 1890. It was acquired by St. Margaret’s in 1979 following the closure of the King Street Convent.
As well as the high altar St. Margaret’s has a free-standing wooden altar and a side chapel used regularly for weekday services and small gatherings. The wooden pews in the main part of the Church have been recently restored to their original state.
There are numerous high level stained glass windows depicting Saints.
